Hi,
I am using ABAQUS UMAT to implement a constitutive model. I am trying to implement a non-local softening variable within my model. From UMAT I can only access to stresses and state variables of respective gauss point. I want to have access to data of neighbour integration points.
I tried common block option, but it does not compile. How can I define the common block as a 3D array.
I appreciate any advice on this regards,

Hi Hansini,
There are a few ways that I can think of. Common block (CM) is a flexible option. Although CM is not recommended in Fortran programming, it is the way required by Abaqus. Why is it that it is not working.
A second, much more inefficient way, is to write and read files with the information from each Gauss point.

Thank you very much. I think I managed to do it. I wanted to calculate weighted average of plastic strain, I think there is an error associated with it when common block is used. When I calculated average plastic strain at a certain gauss points, all their neighbour points may not have updated their plastic strains.
