Do aqueous work-up of your organic synthesis in the PEG medium to solve PEG in water followed by extraction of your organic compounds is good idea for product analysis. But it take much species and unfavor for trace analysis during reaction. You may try to install a short pre-column as a guard bed to remove the non volatile PEG, then your volatile product could be analyzed.

if reactants and product are well soluble in ether then you can extract them in ether , wash with water and then you can go for GC injection.

I agree that ether extraction follow by wash with water is also good way to try If you don't need sampling so frequently.
