I have question which I could not find an appropriate answer. By default, each laser diffraction instrument plots PSD using different bin sizes on the x-axis. This means, using default settings, that the same powders (let’s suppose 316L 15 to 45 um) measured by using two different laser diffraction units would be represented by two different PSD curves. So I just wonder how to solve this problem. Does anybody have any ideas?
That is why you plot the distribution density in 1/um - you divide each probability by the bin size. Then, bin size does not affect the curve any more (unless you have way too few or much bins)
It is always the problem when density distribution are represented.
The solution is to represent the cumulative frequency (you sum all the density lower than the powder grain size, for all powder size). This curve could be fitted and derivated (to have the density distribution). It allows also to use logarithm representation. The best is to use log-proba graphic representation (probit).
