I want to work with N9 microglial cells.
I have been working on primary and secondary cultures of neuronal cells, but not glial cells. This is the first time that I will be experimenting with (N9) microglial cells
So I was looking for tips and specific points to keep in mind while working with them.
Suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Hello Suraiya, N9 cells are maintained in DMEM/F12 with 1% pen-strep and 10% FBS. Although, it can also be maintained in DMEM medium with same antibiotic and FBS concentration.
The murine microglial cell line N9 was cultured in DMEM medium supplemented with 2 mM glutamine, 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS), 100 U/ml penicillin and 100 lg/ml streptomycin. The cells were grown at 37oC in a saturatedly humidified incubator in 95% air5% CO2 and were passaged every 3 days.
