I read your paper (abstract only) with an interest relevant to four case study countries (Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, and Vanuatu). It is interesting to see that how the adaptive capacity can be enhanced by simply having strong informal communication and relationships as well as formal relationships, appropriate participation of traditional leaders and churches etc. Just have an interest to know further:
1. Have you identified any major threats from climate change on natural resources of these islands, will water resources, agriculture and biodiversity be impacted?
2. What are the main disasters that can affect these islands? are they cyclones, floods, droughts, storm surges and sea- level rise?
Hi Golam, sorry for the very delayed response. The focus of the study was more on the humanitarian aspect but there were some broader findings. You can read the full study report here http://www.pacificdisaster.net/pdnadmin/data/original/NCCARF_UTS_2013_response_cc_pacific.pdf. You may email the lead author with your questions as well. Hope this helps.
