How an impact factor and ISI indexed research journal or conference can be beneficial to a researcher whose research is published in that journal. I mean if my articles are published in ISI indexed journal, then this impact factor is beneficial in which way to a researcher ? The researcher get recognition by the publication? or is it just requirement of research community ? . I am asking because some very goof research journals and conferences are not ISI Indexed or having impact factor. Is it compulsory to choose a journal or conference with impact factor?
Impact Factors are useful for ranking and choosing journals, and arguably also for ranking researchers, as those who consistently get their research into high IF journals must be doing a lot right. However, for any specific paper, if it is any good I don't think it makes any difference where it is published. The days of it languishing in some obscure inaccessible journal are gone with the internet.
