Over 90% of conference presentations (oral/poster) are only available as a short abstract or citation. I have always taught students to access & read full articles, as abstracts give only limited information,  cannot show the full context, do not provide full data etc. Therefore, abstracts can be seen as only an indicator of the work undertaken,  but not as robust or reliable without the full paper.

Can anyone offer a citation which supports this ?
