For compiling molecular information that all a plant cell needs to trigger its growth differently then the surrounding cells. e.g. Megaspore Mother Cell (MMC) and trichome are the cells which shows enlargement over other cells.
So please indicate about the types of cells in a plant body and the molecular triggers behind their enlargement to perform specialized function.
un/less differentiated or cells decide to elongate/differentiate into specific cell type, based to positional signals obtained from already differentiated cells. This can be found in many good reviews on plant stem cells and differentiation.

1. This phenomenon is called "cell specification'. It occurs in both animal and plant cells. Cell specification will turn a specific group of cells to differentiate into different shapes (attachment 1) to responsible for different functions (attachment 2).
2. Cell specification is controlled by genes, and some by environment cues. A certain combination of genes (or their gene products) will create a certain type of cell (attachment 3).
3. One example: TAPETUM DETERMINANT1 (TPD1) gene is required for Cell Specialization in the Arabidopsis anther. Male-sterile mutant, tpd1, has precursors of tapetal cells to differentiate and develop into microsporocytes instead of tapetum. As a results, extra microsporocytes were formed and tapetum was absent in the mutant (attachment 4).
4. In human beings, to be man or woman is also controlled by genes. Sex determining region Y (SRY gene) on the Y chromosome determines the fate of a male gender.
