Can you still have a good model despite a p-value < .05 for the H-L goodness of fit test? Any alternative testing in SAS or R?
The answer depends solely on what you mean by "good model".
For the first part of the question, I think there are several criticisms for the HL test . Many feels that there should be an alternative for this test. Please see this maybe of interest for you
