I am going to finish my PhD research on December but I'm not allowed to defend my thesis until September for some special reason. Can I do a post-doc in that 6 months? if not what do you suggest so my time won't be wasted?
As you assume, since you have not successfully defended your PhD Thesis and you have not submitted the final form after possible corrections, you will not be able to undertake a post-doc. Meanwhile you can focus on publishing scientific papers from you Thesis to some high impact factor journals. To me, this holds the same importance as undertaking a post-doc. Also you can participate in conferences and you can unofficialy talk with your professor and prepape some preliminary work for your post-doc.
Good luck with your work, hope everything turns out fine
