Hi,

Polarization of ports becomes necessary to set up when two different modes become degenerate, i mean having equal propagation constant. To distinguish them we have to specify polarization angle while defining waveguide port in CST.

Otherwise, if all modes are having different propagation constant then modes shall be arranged itself in order of increasing propagation constant.
