I want to compare efficacy of drug A with drug A plus B in prevention of a disease by giving one group drug A while giving drug A and B to other group. The problem is I have previous data on drug A (and also on drug B) in prevention of that disease, but there is no data on drug A plus B. So, in such case how do we calculate sample size?
You will need to do statistical power calculation to allow you to pick the difference between the two treatments at a particular significance level.
