Has anyone successfully synthesized GelMA hydrogel with a diameter of 5 cm?
Has anyone experienced similar issues when attempting to crosslink GelMA hydrogel on a larger scale? Are there any modifications to the protocol or reagents that can help improve the crosslinking efficiency?
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We found the best way to crosslink larger gels was to use a UV transilluminator with the long wave setting, i.e. the one you would normally use to visual agarose gels. If you need a sterile gel then place it in a suitably sterilised glass container. Obviously you're going to have to empirically test the optimum conditions. When we want to polymerise the gel in a sterile hood we use a UV Torch purchased from amazon which is at least 10W and use the shorter 365nm wavelength. With a 5cm diameter GELMA hydrogel you may want 2/3 of these to polymerise the whole thing in one go.
BTW we tried the UV nail lamps and they were rubbish.
