I am part of a research project that intends to carry out interspecific hybridization in Solanum quitoense, using wild species such as Solanum hirtum and the hybrid "La Selva". Thanks for your help
There is a PhD candidate in my department who is working on Solanaceae and, consequently, on Solanum quitoense. Her foccus is on cuticular permeability and cuticular wax composition. Perhaps, she can help you somehow.
Please search by Aline Xavier de Souza in the RG and say that I advised you to contact her.
Some of the projects are running on Solanum through AVRDC- the world vegetable center, Taiwan. Hopefully, they may also focus on your concern species for imparting resistant or other in cultivated varieties. On surfing google, I came to know about USDA-ARS for subtropical Horticultural Research Station, Florida is also working on this species.
You may contact them by visiting their sites and discussing you research in details.
