It is the lauric acid that probably gives the odor. You can remove it as follows:
1. Wash the product with dilute Na2CO3 or NaOH aqueous solution
2. Separate the organic phase in a separatory funnel and discard the aqueous phase (containing the laurate)
3. Dry the organic phase under mild conditions (to remove water)
If this doesn't remove the odor (which could also be isoamylalcohol) you could try vacuum distillation on the dried organic phase to remove residual alcohol.
