which area? I know a bit of European and some Australian fauna .. the first picture seems to be from a second antenna which is usually not overly helpful for identifications. The second picture is of a male - most keys do not work for males ... are the parts from the same male? Otherwise, what I see looks similar to some Paracyclops - which do have species in Europe and Australia ..
Thank you very much for your suggestion. Actually, the sample is collected from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The dissected parts are from female. If you need it, I'll upload the female picture too to confirm the Genus and species. Here with I attached the picture of female. I too guess its Paracyclops
o.k., thanks - I have no idea whether Paracyclops occurs in India at all, and I do not have any literature from that part of the world at hand, but Paracyclops fimbriatus (until proven otherwise genetically etc.) is found both in Middle Europe and Australia, so fairly ubiquitous .. however, there are some Paracyclops species that do not seem to be as widespread .. There are of course a number of experts in copepodology whom you should contact directly, such as Tom Karanovic, in Tasmania. They might say though that they need the specimen in hand and that they are not doing identifications from photos alone ..
