Hi, well if u can please elaborate, i may help u out. Basically i am working on Genetic characterisation using molecular marker.
well , i am also going to use the molecular markers for it, actually its just in the planning stage.
Firstly please can you tell me few basic things...........like i have to isolate DNA for it, then what sample to be used blood or any other tissue etc. because the main hurdle i am encountering is in getting the blood of wild herbivores.
Then if I get the go ahead from my advisory committee how much animals should i screen ?
Well the main thing is my research project is still under scrutiny & I am hoping to get it passed .. :-)
See, getting blood and preserving it can be a tedious job, given the fact that you have to collect it from wild. Although DNA can be isolated from any body tissue or fluid like blood even if its in ml or even lesser than that.
Now second question how much animal should u screen?
that depends upon the objective of your work. if its something related to evolutionary biology /conservation biology/ population genetics, u have to collect atleast 30 sample from a particular given area. well many of the times we might not get adequete number, but still we should try to get as many sample as possible.
