I would think it may be in the cockroach family of insects. It's looks are very forest detritus decomposing insect to me. I am however not an entomologist, I just happen to think they are pretty awesome critters.
Considering the enlarged scutellum and the spines overall the body it looks like a particular form of the Cydnidae family. Propably not the most common form. Most of these species are fossorial.
