Thanks for asking this question. I am sure that most colleagues will reply with platitudes but not real measures of accountability -- accountability to students for skills, citizenship, and careers; accountability to the community for the amount of resources invested, and accountability to the groups supposed to benefit from the services and skills of those educated. I have published a number of these measures ranging from international programs accountable to foreign communities so they are not just "colonialism", testing whether disciplines like economics are in violation of international law, measuring whether subjects and programs are just "fads" or have real value (in a recent short article and a long version the field o f "Law and Development) -- all of these are on my research gate site, as well as my book on democratic experiential education and how it is measured and compared (favorably) to standard approaches ["Escape from the Ivory Tower: Student Adventures ...]. The problem is that the public and students don't exercise enough oversight and educators, unfortunately, have too many conflicts of interest (financial, political, bureaucratic).
