Hi,
I am planning on doing an Intrinsic Viscosity experiment with Ubbelhode and from what I see, it usually comes with water bath and an electric coil. However, I was wondering if I can make one myself using hot plate and stir bar?
The question might be a bit specific. I was wondering what method of heating is more efficient in maintaining homogeneous temperature (let's say, 40 oC): using an electric coil immersed in liquid (e.g. water) or placing it on a hot plate with heat transferring from bottom to top. Both will have stir bar in them.
Since the electric coil will be immersed from the top and therefore, heat transfer area is higher, I believe it will reach homogeneity easier than hot plate, but in the end both should be able to maintain the temperature?
