I plan to measure water diffusion in intervertebral discs using diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). I will use DtiStudio software to measure the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values from the mid-saggital ADC maps using the oval shape marker to circle the region of interest (ROI). Do you have any experience on this? Have you read any articles that compared the ADC/pixel values measured by DtiStudio and the standard software available on an MRI workstation?
We have done study with paramagnetic contrast media in horse's tail and we have
found gradually increasing signal intensity in disk cartilage due to the diffusion of contrast medium into the disk.
Hi Douraied and Abdelmalek, Sorry for the belated reply. For some reason, I couldn't see your answers until now. Ideally, I want to measure the ADC values directly from the MRI workstation. Given the pragmatic constraint, I can only measure ADC values using DtiStudio. However, when I open ADC maps in the DtiStudio, the pictures are really small. Therefore, I don't know whether the measured ADC values will be comparable to those measured by the built-in software on an MRI workstation. If no study has compared these two methods, I have to validate the ADC measurements between the two methods. Abdelmalek~did you compare the ADC values measured by DtiStudio and another software?
