Clever men have been "talking" (also known as 'philosophy') for about 2500 years. They have raised many questions but few answers.
What are the problems here? Why so little progress?

Please exclude Natural Philosophy in your answers, as this is another term for 'Science' - which is another question.
Dear Folks: I was looking for specific examples - not vague generalities, while lists of philosophers is NOT acceptable.

We achieved Democracy, equal right etc. (may be partially in many cases) due to the efforts of the philosophers.
The religious leaders (called by many other terminologies) were definitely the most intelligent philosophers of their time. As a man, they were great. But the persons followed him were not so great in most of the time. In many cases, they just used him for their own, narrow purposes. Thus the common people forgot the actual essence of the philosophical views of the religious leaders and becomes indulged in only following the customs thinking those as religion.
The society changes every day, every minute, every second. In many cases, the customs set by the religious philosophers lost their relevancy at least partially. At present day, it is not advisable to follow all the religious customs blindly without considering the relevancy and practicality.

The influence of philosophers seems everywhere. All I am getting here are lots of words with minimal SPECIFIC content.
With politicians, we call such vagueness 'arm-waving' but when academics 'share' their opinions it is called 'wisdom'.

Hi Brenda: I can see the connection between 17th century European philosophy (ala Newton/science) plus its roots in Classical Thinking for what you call Bio-Psycho-Social models of man as your basis of treatment.
But which philosophers do you credit for the Holistic model?

I should have expected as much. There is a lot of value of blending in the Eastern viewpoints, rather than retreating into our western sense of superiority. Also, significant that most Eastern thoughts enter circulation without the focus on the originating individual (western ego?).
