In India we have deployed Fish Aggregating Devices at Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep group of Islands for the benefit of Fishermen community as requested by the respective Fisheries Administration. According to the Lakshadweep fishermen the Tuna aggregation is nearer FADs and they are getting a good catch. Please share your experience. I can provide more details whenever required. Thank you.

At the annual Tuna Conference the theme was FAD related a few years ago (perhaps 2-3 years ago). I wonder if you can get a copy of the presentations given...I'll dig around in my office to see if I still have information on that. Otherwise contact the chair(s) for the Tuna Conference.

I'm writign my PhD on fish behaviour at FADs under the supervision of Laurent Dagorn (mentioned above) and Gala Moreno ([email protected]). I would suggest you to contact them or to be more specific on the kind of information you are looking for (in terms of catches: species composition, total catch, etc.). There are many evidences all over the world showing higher catch rates at FADs, in comparison with sites with no FADs. In addition, I have all the presentations from the last FAD symposium in Tahiti. Let me know if you want to acceess them.

I wrote a report early this year for the European Parliament, called: THE USE OF FADs IN TUNA FISHERIES, where a review on anchored FAD fishing was done along with drifting FAD purse seine fishing.
