I've been told its one of the best effective way to focus when writing. Do you agree?
Pomodoro is simple time management. I used this to develop self discipline and to comply within the time frame. To get the benefit of using the pomodoro technique, first we should have organized to-do list. It is an effective prioritization tool to focus on what we want to do. It reduces the impact of internal and external interruptions. This time management technique helps to organize our daily activities setting aside non urgent communication like emails, facebook, phone calls and observe coffee break time.
I have and I agree. However, sometimes I am so wrapped up in what I do that I just ignore the bell
I agree with you Shubhashnee Subryan. It is also true to me that sometimes I was short of time. But doing Pomodoro again and again helps a lot with limited and reasonable back log that is easily remedied. Pomodoro helps establish systematic conditioning for our daily work activities.
Yes it can be very helpful - but it may not the perfect tool for every situation and not for everybody.

I found useful insight into various time management strategies and I developed my own "swiss army methods" from there.
I have to say that I found it distracting at first as i was waiting for it to show that time was up. I found the half-hour preset too short for my mental processes but one I increased the time to an hour and quarter (and turned off the sound) it was a very effective marker of the passing hours.

In using the pomodoro technique the following should be observed
- Pomodoro: Mark a time with 25 minutes;
- Short Break: Select from 3 to 5 minutes;
- Long Break: Select from 10 to 30 minutes
and 25 minutes working time may not be enough for the kind of work to be done in terms of continuity. Or stop at the end of the desired time marker then continue the working process until we get used to break time.

This is very useful, Florencia. The presets on Pomodoro seemed to short for the way i think and it made me wonder if I was thinking more slowly than expected! However, I adapted to my won speed and I can now work in a concentrated way without going on too long.
Dear Fatimah, yes I too use a kind of a pomodoro app and it really helps me focusing on reading and writting, specially since it prevents me from visiting RG and Facebook constantly. Actually I use a chrome extension called Strict Workflow, but it does pretty much the same.
