As you know, MRS is selective media for lactobacillus bacteria, but what are the other genera that grow on this medium?
Hi Fatimah
MRS is not selectively used for only lactobacillus. Many other genera of lactic acid bacteria such as Leuconostoc can also grow on MRS media.
By using suitable additive to MRS you can detect bifidobacteria, too
Clostridium butyricum
For Bifidobacteria mostly Lactose is used
