I have a mutant zebrafish strain that likely has hypothryoidism as a result of the mutation. I am basing this on the fact that the adults are dwarfs compared to wild type fish and also do not reproduce. We use T3 in our lab for other developmental purposes but T3 itself is quite toxic, even in small amounts and I do not want to risk losing my fish. I have been reading that Levothyroxine is a routine treatment for hypothyroidism in humans. Also, I have found Levothyroxine on Sigma's website but no papers that show its usage in model organisms. Any advice please?
