Or have any tips how to do it? Or even know if it's possible? I will need to take measurements for longer than what the internal batteries last, and I'm looking for a way to use more long-lasting external power source.
I have never used the Ciras-2, but I have connected a Licor 6400 to a car battery. It is usually pretty straightforward as long as you have the proper connector to plug in to your Ciras. I don't know if you have a connector in your spare parts. If so, you could build yourself a cable with the connector. Ask someone familiar with electronics if you don't feel comfortable doing it. That person might have an idea on how to do what you want if you don't have the parts needed.
As for the battery, a car battery is fine, but I would recommend a deep cycle battery, aka a marine battery. They last longer than car batteries, especially if you are using demanding systems like external lights or temperature control.
Over the years, we used a Korean brand battery (see photo) for our Licor 6400 system operating in remote places and never have to worry about power supply. I think it should be similar for your CIRAS-2 system. Kindly ask someone well-versed in electrical system to help you to hook up to a good battery for more than 3-5 hrs of operation. Good luck!
