I've studied the biology of this insect in northern Iran, but the Larval and pupal stages of the insect is unclear to me. Please help me If possible. Thank you.
Poplar leaf weevil Platymycterus marmoratus Fst. is one of the most important pests of poplar plantations. Its high density of adults can be observed on different poplar clones and species in northern Iran. The poplar leaf weevil adults appeared since mid May till late September with the peak of population in late June to first of July. Its adults are active and rely on leafy food materials rich in tannins.Biology, life cycle, feeding behavior and population variation of some important poplar pests like Paranthrene tabaniformis, Nycteola asiatica, Pterocomma populeum and Stearunematus compressicornis has been maintained . This leaf weevil species smaller , reddis brown color larvae , with spiracles in three segments, it also posses chewing and biting type mouth parts, these larvae spread in large numbers after eclosion, and passess through 4 instar stages and transform into pupae which hibernate or hide under the dry leaf biomass in the soil, after 21-29 days of embryonic development a new adult come out with more sophisticated biting and chewing mouth parts.
