The knob is very loose and therefore not changing correctly between the eyepiece and camera. How simple is it to repair? Are any specialist tools required?
Hi Casey, I experienced exactly the same problem with an IX71. To fix it, it seems that you have to disasemble quite some parts of the microscope. It was a job that I gladly left to one of the Olympus specialists. The good news is that you can replace part of what connects the eyepiece knob to the selection mirror by a better quality piece. That will prevent the issue in the future.
Thanks Guus for your reply. I did suspect that it might be a complicated job, but thought I'd enquire anyway! I will look into this new piece as well. Thanks again.
