Evidence is emerging that long COVID can cause cognitive and visual deficits. Given the large numbers of people potentially affected, I am concerned about the effect on traffic safety, particularly in the current context of very high rates of fatalities and serious injuries. I have not seen any research directly on this topic. Would appreciate any pointers to ongoing or recent studies. Here in Australia, I recommend you reach out to CarrsQ, part of the University of Technology Queensland. I am not aware of any studies, but we too are experiencing a higher that recent road toll, for not clear reason, and researchers may start testing for this. CarrsQ run a driver simulator, and may be planning to test people who have long covid's reaction times and cognitive abilities.
