When we put the frozen sample (leaf of trees) in flasks, and we conect it to the chamber, the sample thaw in a few minutes, but is necessary that the sample was frozen for a successful lyophilization.
In lyophilization, the frozen sample doesn't thaw. Instead the frozen water i.e., the ice directly vaporizes due to sublimation caused by the temperature-pressure conditions. Thus the liquid phase is bypassed and there is a direct transformation of ice into vapour.
