Using safety googles to avoid infection by Covid-19 virus will no doubt be superior to wearing run of the mill eyeglasses. It might be however be worth investigating this, If it turns out the chances are more users, particularly users who are more more exposed to Covid-19 infection are more likely are likely more ltheir own eyeglasses than safety glasses.

Theoretically healthcare personal wearing eyeglasses have a sort of shield on their eyes compared to those who do not need eye glasses. However, there is no study whether wearing eye glasses is protective.
Guidelines advise the healthcare workers attending a COVID-19 patient during an aerosol generating procedure to use personal protective equipment (PPE) including goggles and a face-shield to avoid transmission (1,2).
The protection of viral transmission by such googles and face-shield from a COVID-19 patient is by a producing a barrier to the nose and mouth.
It is advisable for those who use contact lenses to replace it with eye-glasses because the former can transmit SARS-CoV-2 (3).
However, the tears and eye secretions have not been shown to transmit the SARS-CoV-2 virus (4)
Before and after attending a COVID-19 patient, it is paramount to perform hand hygiene. Eye glasses, goggles or face-shield may become foggy and should also be be cleaned as per guidelines (5)

Did you mean the eye frame with transparent shield attached? Yes, you are right, there is no study at this point on its protection against covid-19. However, considering the virus is transmitted via droplets from the mouth and nose, the shield could protect the wearer to an appreciable extent against the virus.
