I want to make a lipid bilayer for electrowetting experiments and read that I could accomplish this by mixing a small quantity (0.1 wt. %) sorbitan trioleate (SPAN 85) in dodecane. Upon trying this, the SPAN 85 doesn't dissolve. I tried heating it for a little bit, still no success.

Any tips? By the way, I don't currently have a sonicator.
