In this age doctors prescribe antibiotics for killing infectious bacteria but these are also destroying commensurate bacteria. There are few studies looking into this.

But what about antimicrobial herbs? (Especially the likes of the berberine containing herbs.) Do these also destroy our commensurate bacteria? Logic would say yes probably, although over time these bacteria may have developed resistance to the various herbs used for treating microbial infections.

I've done quite a number of searches but found nothing. Does anyone have any pointers to finding papers that deal with this topic?
