For electroplating, the sulphate system is more adaptable because metal chlorides sometimes result in solid precipitation in solution due to low solubility.  Besides, sulphate solution ususally is more stable and possesses wider "operating window".

I do not have any specification. I am interested in electrodeposition of Ni-W alloys from chloride baths. In the literature Ni-W coatings are obtained by using sulphamate baths. I was wondering about the reason why chloride baths have never been used.

The anion effect, in this case, is mostly a difference in the adsorption of the anion on the electrode surface.
