Hello All,

I am trying to understand the solution algorithm and solve for structural parameters in the context of transient EMMS drag model; I am primarily referring to the following work of W. Wang and J. Li.

Chemical Engineering Science 62 (2007) 208 – 231

This multi-scale modelling framework accounts for various gas-solid interaction types, at different scales, within a control volume by decomposing it into a particle-rich dense phase and a gas-rich dilute phases; i.e., intra-phase interactions between gas and solid particles within these two sub-phases and, also, inter-phase interaction between particles and gas in the dense and dilute phases, respectively.

Scale analysis: Control volume (Macro); Intra-phase (Micro); Inter-phase (Meso).

This is a non-linear optimization problem; but the algorithm prescribed in this work is a global search campaign, traversing over all possible combinations of structural parameters.

I have (several) questions, especially, in the context of filtering out the physically unmeaningful roots; I am also wondering if there are any avenues to minimize the search space by defining a set of constraints.

I would very much like to interact, share, and learn from those attempted and are interested to attempt solving this model.

Regards,

Kareem
