In an irrigation network or basin, as water quality degrades specially in rivers by pollutants like farms drained water or residential wastes, the performance and price of water per amount will reduce. For economical analysis of an irrigation network or basin, Has any practice been accomplished?

We do have a darft of a standard that calculates the price of reclaimed water regarding its quality in Iran. However, for surface and groundwater, particularly in Iran, you can hardly convince water companies to reduce water price as a matter of its quality. This is due to the fact that water is much more cheaper than its real costs. Also, it is very scarce. Since agricultural activities themselves reduce the quality of rivers and groundwater specificly, we can not condemn water companies to set prices in regard to the water quality.
However, you can use hypothetical assumptions in which the concentrations of TSS may harm irrigation system in long-term and derive an operating cost function. Here, you can calculate the water price in regard.

I think more researches and practices should be initiated seroiusly specially in agricalture district due to water scarcity and unefficient water use. Which cause water policy makers to have better overveiw for making better decisions.

In Isfahan Mr Jalili has accomplished an economic research on water use for all consumptions.
He determined how much the costumer can pay for water uses satisfactory.
His Ph.D thesis defence is this summer.
I've just started working on integrated water resources management with considering economic, social and environmental aspect and so on.

I think yr question as per my region may be diluted,may be due to abandon natural resource but still pollutants are added in the river by industries or other way
in our region, RO water is used and almost half the water is wasted in the drainage,there is no control ?
