Any advice on the noise in patch clamp electrophysiology, with huge membrane current fluctuations as the electrode touches the cell membrane?

The general noise level is around 5-10 pA, which is nearly flat when the cell is not touched. But I get huge fluctuations in the membrane current as soon as my electrode touches the cell membrane....
