Give pros and cons of Visual Analogue Scale Score?

i have used the VAS scale on a study of Saw Mill workers to know their overall discomfort level. The VAS was used as a initial tool to know the overall pain and discomfort before administering a Nordic Discomfort Questionnaire. i would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of using a VAS scale in such studies. Kindly comment.
