GA is not a control; it is a treatment. You need to set up different concentrations of GA :)

What exactly are you expecting to see ??

What did you see ? No germination at all or 100 % germination or something in between?

I have seen several instances on researchgate where researchers add sugars to "germination medium" - why? the seed has all the sugar the plant needs until it starts photosynthesizing.

Is 8 g/L agar a lot? Without checking references, it strikes me as a very thick agar, although I'm prepared to be wrong.

Also: did you dilute with 50% NaOH? 50% w/w NaOH would saponify everything into an alkaline mush, so I'm assuming it was some much lower concentration, but it probably wouldn't be doing your poor little seeds much good.

Are you sure your seeds are viable? How about putting a few on a moist filter paper in a petri dish and seeing how well they go overnight.

1.Both (MS and GA) had same germination rate. As I mentioned above, maybe I am not checking in the right time.

2. About sugar, I have read that you add it to help with the photosynthesis hoewever in all the germination protocols they add sugar

3. About agar, I think that that is the correct concentration because I need a solid medium and I place the seed on the surface. I don't need the seed to be inside the medium

4. Sorry I wrote it wrong. I adjusted the pH with NaOH 50%.

5. The seed are viable, because I have used them for other experiments and they grew well

You need a proper trial. Obtain brand new GA (and other reagents) and apply many different concentrations to at least 3 replicates of 6 plants each, taking into account variables that might cause bias, such as microclimate. Keep your reagents secure and fresh and don't let anyone else use them or contaminate them. Ensure correct temperatures at all stages of the trial. Then use proper statistics to analyse the results, such as permanova :)
