I consider buying a MiVac Duo with the coiled SpeedTrap as an alternative to Savant/metal cold trap for drying/pre-concentrating LC fractions from tissue extracts. My main attraction is their compact cold trap that consists of coils suspended in the vapor path from which condensed solvent runs off into the collection vessel below. The hope is that this cold trap design should be more effective than traditional one, and it is marketed as such,...but it would be great to hear from someone who have used MiVac Duo. Hi Elena I worked with the older models of Genevac Concentrators, we use liquid nitrogen or dry ice be cause we have this materials available. Important for your condensing is the surface temperature ans size, so if you have a bigger condensor-area your with same temparature, the condensing supposed to be better.
If you can replace the oil pump with a membrane pump, you have less problems too. They are much more stable and the vacuum can be almost as low as for oilpumps
You can put the cold trap behind this pump use the vapor load valve and condense the vapors directly into waste containers so you do not need to clean
