There could be several reasons for this situation, from trivial issues like fogged beamsplitter, beam blocked, small aperture selected, etc., to more serious problems like failed source/detector, or some electronic fault. As a basic suggestion, make sure the path is unobstructed (it happened to me once) and check if this problem exists with accessories removed.
