For the calculation of climate change trends by Mann-Kendall and Sen's slope, MS-Excel program called MAKESENS version 1.0 developed by Finnish Meteorological Institute is downloaded from https://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/makesens links. Climatic data over 30 years is entered into Ms-Excel and calculation is done according to MAKESENS user manual. The MS-Excel programme (MAKESENS version 1.0) is attached here for the information.
I haven't heard of Makesens. But this test can be easily implemented in Python, if you're familiar with this language.
I agree with Faiz, it is suitable and has been used extensively in the past. I have used it for assessing annual trends in air pollutants and climate variables. There are easy to use approaches in R and python. However, the MAKESENS excel workbook is very straightforward and robust (so long as your time series is less than 100 intervals).
Hi all, I have a question, can a significant level of 0.001 for detecting rainfall trend be used? I have a reviewer saying it is unheard of.
Generally, researchers are attempting rainfall analysis like (Trend analysis, ARIMA) at a significance level of 0.05. lab condition/ Medical experiments usually prefer higher accuracy so they are using a 0.001 level of significance.
