Masonry has to be modeled as compression only member so that when any tension is observed in diagonal the same member is neglected and whenever compression is there then the effect of same is considered.
Many authors have modeled the masonry section which can be modeled as strut by defining it's width and contact area in corners and calculating the stiffness of the same.
