Hello,

I am trying to make a tungsten alloy shield for a gamma source. The whole setup should be UHV compatible. I am thinking of tungsten-copper alloy- HA 195. The question that I have is- how difficult it is to machine this alloy or weld this alloy. The shielding is basically a cylinder with two different OD and one single ID. So either I can get two pieces and get them welded or buy one single piece and get it machined. The total length is ~ 100 mm and the larger OD = 40 mm. The other consideration is that the alloy should be non magnetic. If there is any other tungsten alloy better then HA 195, then I can go for that as well. Look forward to your suggestions.
