There are well established manuals on flying/handling qualities for fixed-wing aircraft as well as for helicopters. Does anyone know if there exists similar documentation for the UAVs?
In designing flight control systems (FCS) for an air vehicle one has to consider HQ/FQ in order to meet specs of real FCS. Where can one see a set of HQ/FQ for all types of UAV (fixed wing, quad rotors, helicopters, etc.)?
Mohammad, I would expect flying and handling qualitiies are essential as a standard to guarantee a nice and easily controlled aircraft to a human pilot without much effort. In the moment you don't have a pilot, the only considerations I can see are related to the performance of control effectors and control actuators, which may even be case dependent. Andrea
Thanks Andrea for the comment. I agree 100% with what you said. That's really the reason I am looking for the set of HQ specs that will give some highlights on the parameters of the equations. As you know, there are set of equations that define desire performance in response to pilot command or the autopilot. Those equations contain some parameters that vary from fixed-wing to rotary wing to helicopter. I'd expect companies that have deployed such UAV or research institutes that are working on say e.g. Quadrotors may have some sort of HQ Manual.
