Hello, i am working on floods and i have a lot of gaps and i will model flooded areas (eg storm events, 24 sept 2003 and 10 sept 2020) and flood prone areas using Hec Ras.

For the data, I have a series of daily precipitation from 1971 until 2020. So, I did a frequency analysis of this series (maximum daily rainfall), I determined the IDF curves and for return periods 2, 5, 10, 50 and 100 years and then I'll estimate the flow. using the rational method.

My questions are:

- To model the flood zones, it is what I saw that to do the modeling you need a long series.

-To model the flooded areas I just need the precipitation of the rainy events?

So, do we have to work on each model separately?

or else I have to change the maximum daily rainfall of the 2 years 2003 and 2020 by the rainfall events (so that the values are not lost with the maximum daily rainfall) and I only use the 2 years 2003 and 2020 to delimit the flooded areas and I keep the whole series to model the flood zones?

Please i need clarification :)
