Thank you for sharing that link, the paper is interesting.

However; the paper below ,for example, employs CXCR2 knockdown in mammary tumor cells and that I think translates to expression of CXCR2 on the tumor cells.

Some evidence from the lab...

As part of a preparatory step for a planned project we screened 5 tumor cell lines for mRNA expression of CXCR2 and a few chemokines.

The result showed that CXCR2 expression was lacking in 4 of the 5 tumor cell lines, consistent with the notion that CXCR2 is expressed on the immune cells which use it to sense chemokine secretion by tumor cells and migrate toward the tumor microenvironment. This was also supported by the chemokine findings which showed these tumor cell lines expressing the chemokines tested at varying amounts and profiles.

Findings of this experiment support the concept that CXCR2 is expressed on immune cells while tumor cells secret the chemokines that bind to it.
