Part of my investigation consists in analyzing ans visualizing the progressive collapse of a structure due to a fire.

For that, I am using Abaqus and beam elements with predefined fields as temperatures from FDS (CFD analysis).

My problem comes with visualizing the progressive collapse itself. I found some bibliography but I do not know if using an implicit or explicit scheme. Which one would be more useful for this matter? If explicit, I guess I would have to use a big mass scaling so the simulation time would not be a disaster, do you just base the convergence of the analysis in the ratio of kinetic/internal energy?
