Discussions of exergy can be quite nebulous in the open literature. While the straightforward thermodynamic definitions should be clear and no more complicated than any other application of the 1st and 2nd Laws of Thermodynamics, there is much confusion and fluff in the literature. I suggest you consider publications by George Tsatsaronis of TTU, who was a pioneer in this field. If you don't get the thermodynamics right, the economics won't be right either, which is often the case. Almost every day we see some silly contraption on LinkedIn that supposedly violates the 2LoT so don't make the same mistakes. [I should mention that I have been working on steam power plants for 40+ years and can see out my window the plant that had the highest efficiency in the world for 12 years running, TVA's Bull Run Steam Plant.]

Exergoeconomic analysis is a combination of exergy and economic analysis. So, to perform exergoeconomics, you need to first have results from exergy analysis (e.g., exergy of fuel and product, exergy destruction, etc.) and economic analysis (e.g., cost rates associated with investment and operation and maintenance of each component). Then following the instructions for exergoeconomic analysis, you should create a matrix of linear equations, which represent all cost balances and required auxiliary equations. The number of INDEPENDENT equations in the exergoeconomic analysis must be the same as the number of streams in your system. Once you have such a matrix, you can simply solve it and obtain cost rates associated with each stream.

Having the cost rates obtained from the exergoeconomic analysis and exergy values for all streams, you can calculate the unit cost of exergy for each stream in your system.
